What’s Going On?
Hello out there!
It’s been awhile. While there are no plans for live dates, we are sitting on a ton of music. Some recorded a long time ago and some recorded days ago. It’s time to share this music, some memories and ideas. Time to reconnect.
We’re posting music, video, photos, and more regularly on a variety of channels. If you haven’t already, head over to High Shelter for regular posts and to hear some music! And, check out our Facebook and Instagram for all sorts of content.
We are also releasing music regularly on Bandcamp (see below) and planning to reissue our studio records on vinyl and streaming services. Check back here, subscribe to High Shelter, or like/follow us on social to stay in the loop on things.
Last, but not least, we have merchandise for sale. Get you some!
Churn
Our debut Churn is now available on Bandcamp. Churn includes the original recordings of most of what became American Standard, including a longer version of “Cumbersome” and the song “Kater”, which only appears on this record. Check it out!
JR : Touchy Button Basement Sessions
Recorded in October ’98 by JR with Kevin McKendree recording/laying it down and Mr. Giti Khalsa behind the kit, these 4 songs explore a different side of JR and include a sensational early version of TUG and some previously unreleased treasures.
JR : Nightdrivingsongs
Nightdrivingsongs is a collection of demos and home recordings JR made between 1995 and 1999. Various incarnations of this have been traded and loved through the years and we’re excited to finally make it available for all to enjoy.
Beginners (EP)
We’re pleased to announce the release of Beginners, a 6 song EP we recorded live in the studio in Fall 1995. The session includes 5 songs from American Standard and the first fully-recorded version of “Lucky” in a way most have never heard. The music was found on a cassette in an old shoebox in the archive and hadn’t been listened to in decades. This is obviously the first time it has been released!
Backbooth is Back!
Our Backbooth release is available again for download! Recorded live at Backbooth in Downtown Orlando during one of our popular fan weekends in February 2008, the live acoustic record features stripped-down versions of songs from our day&nightdriving release as well as favorites from our entire catalog.
