I made the video,,,as a roadie! He's getting it in his soul now and the Led Zep desire pleases me. Handful of local known musicians on hand at this public Mothers Day gig and they were very complimentary. Gives them confidence when long time musicians are clearly approving and looking for places they fit well locally. Some 7m3 would be nice but I'm careful in giving them too much direction. I want them to clear the path they want not mine. Next gig has hired sound and light man, I need the break. Great, great kids to be around!

Peter Frampton "Comes Alive 35"
Great night 10th row dead center. Funny dude and I wish I taped train coming by and PF looking with one eyebrow raised repeating the riff til train passed. Trains cause many spontanious moments at this venue. He came out 7:30 and played "Comes Alive". Short intermission then some of his other work. Sold 3 hours of PF. During "Do Uou Feel" a Pittsburgh woman ripped off her shirt and threw it at him. "Won't you be cold now" he quipped. I was hoping for a sprinkle of "Cumbersome during "Do You Feel" but no luck! Live music charges my batteries! My vids:

I saw Lucero today at Warped. They sounded great live, like I have to tell some of you. 25-30 minutes but it was the only pleasure in this 96 degree day. I did also enjoy running into kids I coached as well as my kids friends. Most of the dozen or so kids went out of their way to say hi and that really feels good.

One group I tought some man code etticate to as well. They were all stares and slobbers and I suggested the always humorous "Code word and smooth talk" chapter. They chose "Hands On" as code word. Signal to buddies if to loud was two hands shaped like the hands screen printed on these young ladies shorts covering rear sections. Then once the "finder" secures visual and signals group the smooth talk starts, amongst themselves of course. Each taking that visual and expressing themselve with tales of greatness if opportunity should knock. Only to pile back into the Prius to return to reality!

I saw Night Ranger/Foreigner/Journey the other night.

Night Ranger sounded pretty good. A little rougher than they did in the 80's.

Foreigner was amazing. They played hit after hit. Some of the songs sounded like they were slightly updated. They were the best band of the night. Check them out if you get the chance.

Journey had a good sound but a very disappointing setlist. I will say that I am more of a fan of older Journey (Departure and before). They played 2 new songs and a few songs from the later Steve Perry albums. A couple of extended solos. Unless they changed up their setlist, I probably wouldn't see Journey again.

Overall a good show. It was cool to see my kids enjoying some of the music from my youth.

Got tix for that one as well DB and you just confirmed what I feared. Lame setlist!I first saw Journey in 79' standing room only filled arena. I really hate to say this but Journey is a memory. Hired singer from Youtube? My first favorite song by Journey was "Spaceman". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krRmUf559-w
I loved these guys straight out of Santana whom I no longer like for not including Greg Rollie and Neal Schon on members list for Hall of Fame.

Enter Steve Perry into the band forced by label. Those recordings were great in early days but these guys never really liked Perry. They didn't mind the fame and money. When Rollie left Journey at least in part, died. There were 3 releases prior to Perry and add to that "Infinity","Evolution",and "Departure" are worth their weight in gold. Then the revolving door of chemistry began and soft rock elevators were the only clear winner.

I said it before but Randy Jackson disgusts me after seeing his big ass in spandex close up. I still can't stand him at all as result and left "Raised on Radio" tour shaking my head proclaiming "it's over!"

As far as Foriegner, Mick Jones has re-invented this band multiple times now each time with class. Lou Gramm returned but vocally he is not even close. Last time I saw them Jason Bonham was drummer. He left foreigner for Zeppelin reunion that fell apart. He wisely landed as Black Country Communion whom I really like!

I'm with you. I like the early hippie vibe that Journey had with Rollie.

Deen Castronovo is who I really want to see amd hear on vocals. Arnel is the luckiest guy on Youtube ever and I will be watching Schon a ton. Great to see Ross Vallory back and check out some "Mother,Father" live with Deen on kit and vocals. Amazing!

Spring of 1978 I was reluctant to the bands change in direction and had read Perry was a record co decision not bands but I dove in and purchased 8-track. Paid for with my first city check earned by cleaning the park for forthcoming summer, my first as a lifeguard. I took my new 8-track home and threw it in the old player to hear what to me was the most amazing thing I ever heard next to Zep, Who, Beatles whatever! I sat in that lifeguard chair all summer blasting "Infiniy" and it remains my favorite Journey LP. Then Van Halen was traded to me by a buddy who didn't like for my Kiss "Rock N Roll Over". I'm winning!

Saw a Miller Lite Free concert in Columbus Ohio Saturday. A one of a kind line up and points winners were invited guests.

First Phil Vassar. Impressive, energetic, and great show overall. I was surprised how much I enjoyed. I thought it would be Country but not really. Jackson Browne's "Stay" was a cool cover with guitarist hitting high vocals perfect.

Three Doors Down. They cooked through a great sounding set and the video matched songs on huge led screen. People stood and really appreciated this set and while Vassar did great waking them up, 3DD got them up! Some cool new songs and the radio songs as well. My favorite was "Better Life" and that is my favorite album. A woman jumped seats and was jumping on me and rubbing herself so to say on me. I asked her to stop and she hit me. Security came to talk to her and she eventually left being drug backwards by security up the steps of a cheering Nationwide Arena Crowd.

Sammy Hagar. 63 years and 11 months old and kicking ass! He was so on top it wasn't funny. He was playing to 12 to 13 thousand and all were standing. He opened with "55" and rolled through 3 Montrose and a half a dozen hits from VH. 5Th row was tough to get from the dedicated "Redheads" who lined up early for GA show. Great set! He almost turned into confetti canon and realized at last moment.

GA was a pain and this constant flow of people tried to infiltrate any opening left by a person going to concessions and bathrooms. Many angry words from impatient seat losers. Security set most straight.

New local band featuring an 8 year old on drums, 12 year old on bass, and 15 year old rhythym guitarist. Along with their dad on lead guitar they are fast becoming a local favorite. Spinning Jenny
"Brand New Key" remake,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvPw5vZF74E
"Bring Me To Life" cover,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEohFXg4aQo

My boys band VSC with a new original they have been working on called "Golden",
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtWAgFs0VVQ

VSC played after Spinning Jenny and were quite entertaining young groups. This is 100 percent our sound and light show minus a couple minor accents. First time all were integrated and setup was done by my son and I.We ran out of time or we would have had our own screen in background so we used wall to project images. Now I am tuckered from trying to compete with this energetic bunc of kids!

Went to the Matthew Good show last night. The biggest feeling I left with was that I am old. We were perhaps the oldest people at the show! Only 35! Anyway Matt was really good. Played a good mix of old and new. The opening act was lackluster, the guy didn't introduce the band, mumbled his own name and then tried to sound like Sublime.
